History
With a long family history in Glenorchy, it's not hard to understand the
close bond Mountainland Rovers has with the area.
Originally a mining village home to over 3,000 goldminers, Glenorchy has
grown from the small settlement to an eco-tourism gateway to Paradise. With
a permanent population of merely 200, this often rises to nearly 20,000
with visitors and tourists during the year.

Dick Watson loves nothing better than showing
visitors his piece of Paradise, with off-road tours to some of the
remotest and prettiest parts of New Zealand's South Island.
The Family Tree to the left shows the earliest settlers in Glenorchy and
the start of a long line of traditional Hospitality in the area, with
Great, Great Grandfather Thomas Wilson building the first hotel and running
tours into the Rees valley.
